The Northwoods Escape Marathon course surface consists of about 21 miles of gravel path, half a mile of dirt and almost four miles of paved road.
The marathon course will be run on the Bearskin/Hiawatha trails beginning near Billy Bob's Sports Bar on County Road L near Tomahawk and finishing on the trestle in Minocqua.
The race is run on the same course as the Minocqua No Frills Marathon.
The Northwoods Escape Marathon was the 460th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the 496th largest in 2022.
This year 8.5% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 7.7% of runners qualified for Boston in 2023.
This gives the Northwoods Escape Marathon the 249th highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in the U.S. last year and the 161st highest percentage so far in 2024.
